A man accused of stealing a truck from an Anchorage hotel parking lot was arrested in the bathroom of the Soldotna Fred Meyer last week.
Brian D. Mollard, 33, was arrested May 16 after a report of suspicious activity near a green Ford pickup in the Fred Meyer parking lot. The pickup was reported stolen from a Residence Inn parking lot in Anchorage on May 15, according to Soldotna police.
Police allege they found Mollard in the men’s restroom holding two needle caps, with a bag of crystal methamphetamine in his pocket.
Mollard reportedly told police he was living in a homeless camp in Anchorage and had driven a woman to Soldotna so that she could pick up a vehicle.
A woman in the stolen truck’s passenger seat told police she had paid Mollard $80 to drive her to Soldotna.
Mollard faces one count of first-degree vehicle theft, a class C felony, and one count of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.
