A 57-year-old resident of Anchor Point was killed in a car collision Tuesday evening when a vehicle she was a passenger in crossed the center line and struck another vehicle.
According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers, the collision happened around Mile 160 of the Sterling Highway, very close to Anchor Point. Carol Spracklin was a passenger in a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling north at around 5:30 p.m. The vehicle crossed the line and collided with a Saturn Sky.
Spracklin was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the pickup that she was riding in was transported to Anchorage with serious injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the Saturn Sky was medevaced to Soldotna with serious injuries.
The dispatch says that the road was closed for several hours, but a detour was available. Troopers are continuing to investigate the collision.
