A 28-year-old Anchorage man died in a Sterling Highway wreck Monday afternoon.
The crash, which took place at approximately 2 p.m., occurred after a 2014 Subaru Impreza driven by the man crossed into the incoming lane and collided with an oncoming 2010 Toyota pickup, according to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers.
The truck was driven by a 71-year-old woman from Anchorage, troopers said. The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital via air ambulance for “serious injury.”
The crash took place around Mile 72.5 of the Sterling Highway — between Sterling and the Skyline Trail. Troopers say they’re still investigating the cause and circumstances.
