A person’s body was discovered in a car that caught on fire in Kenai this weekend, according to a dispatch from the Kenai Police Department.
On Friday afternoon, Kenai Fire and Police responded to a vehicle fire at Beaver Creek Park. The dispatch stated the car was “fully engulfed” in flames.
After fire personnel extinguished the blaze, they recovered an unidentified deceased individual from the car.
On Saturday, Sergeant Jay Sjogren with the Kenai Police Department said the case is still pending further investigation.
“The investigation into the fire and identification of the deceased is still ongoing,” Sjogren said.
He confirmed the body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage for identification.
