The Alaska State Medical Examiner has confirmed the identity of a body found on the north Kenai beach last week as Kurt Keltner.
Keltner, who lived in Sterling during the summer and Colorado during the winter, went missing in the Kenai River after he was thrown from a boat near Soldotna’s Centennial Park on Aug. 4. Despite extensive searches by Alaska State Parks staff, community members and Keltner’s family, his body was not found in the subsequent weeks.
On Sept. 12, troopers responded to a call that a body had been found on the north Kenai beach. The body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office, which confirmed Keltner’s identity and informed troopers Monday, according to an online dispatch.
Keltner’s family was notified and his body was released to them, according to the dispatch.
