Kenai Central High School will see improvements to its parking lot under a contract for roughly $650,000 approved by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly on Tuesday.
According to a memo from Project Manager Nick Kemp, included in the assembly’s meeting documents, Soldotna-based Foster Construction will be awarded the bid of $648,997 to complete “sub grade repairs, drainage improvement, sanitary sewer replacement, parking lot striping, removal of existing pavement and new paving.”
There were three bidders for the project, all from Kenai or Soldotna.
During a meeting of the assembly’s policies and procedures committee, Borough Purchasing and Contracting Director John Hedges said that the main focus is rehabilitation of the driveway and parking area, specifically on the side of the building closer to the Kenai Spur Highway.
This project, he said, is “a maintenance department-driven project” separate from other school improvements included in the 2022 bond package, like improvements to facilities at nearby Ed Hollier Field.
