The City of Kenai announced Monday that it is extending the limits on public access to some city buildings in response to the continued spread of COVID-19.
Affected buildings include the Kenai Community Library, the Kenai Municipal Airport Terminal, the Kenai Multi-Purpose Facility, Kenai City Hall and the Kenai Senior Center.
Public access to the facilities was first limited on Nov. 13 following Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s statewide emergency alert urging Alaskans to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
The library will remain closed to the public through the end of the year, but will offer curbside service for patrons. Additionally, dates for borrowed materials will be adjusted and book drops will still be available.
The airport terminal will be open to the public, however administrative offices will be closed until further notice.
The Kenai Ice Rink remains open, but restricted to Central Kenai Peninsula participants only.
City Hall is closed to the public through the end of the year. Payments for city utilities can be made by using the dropbox in front of Kenai City Hall, online and by phone.
According to the release, the city will continually reevaluate whether or not additional restrictions or closure extensions are needed.
