Clarion, KDLL candidate forum series returns

First forum with candidates for Kenai City Council is Aug. 26

The Peninsula Clarion and KDLL 91.9 FM are for the third year hosting a series of live, open-to-the-public candidate forums ahead of the municipal and general elections.

The forums, which are being held in partnership with the Central Kenai Peninsula League of Women Voters, KBBI AM 890 and KSRM 920 AM/92.5 FM, will take place between Aug. 26 and Oct. 29 at community libraries around the Kenai Peninsula.

Forums will kick off Monday, Aug. 26, at the Kenai Community Library with candidates for Kenai City Council. That same week, a forum will be held at the Homer Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 29. All forums will run from 6 to 7 p.m.

On Sept. 10, a forum with candidates for Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly will be held in Soldotna, followed by a forum with candidates for Seward City Council in the Seward Community Library on Sept. 12.

The last forum before the municipal election on Oct. 1 will feature candidates for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District’s Board of Education in Seward on Sept. 16.

More forums will be held in October with candidates for the local seats in the Alaska Legislature.

Forums will be moderated by KDLL reporter Ashlyn O’Hara, KBBI reporter Jamie Diep, and Clarion general assignment reporter Jake Dye. Questions asked during the forums will come from KDLL, KBBI, the Clarion and KSRM, in addition to questions submitted by members of the public in advance at info@kdll.org.

Each forum will also be livestreamed on the “Peninsula Clarion” Facebook page and broadcast live on the radio at KDLL 91.9 FM, KBBI 890 AM, KSRM 920 AM or KSRM 92.5 FM.
