The Soldotna City Council unanimously voted down the ordinance that would prohibit possession of synthetic cannabinoids that has been postponed since February.
The vote was held for three months as the council waited for Gov. Sean Parnell to sign a House bill that criminalizes possession of synthetic marijuana.
The state bill ultimately made Soldotna’s ordinance moot, Soldotna Mayor Nels Anderson said.
Anderson christened the first of the new Binkley Street roundabouts, by taking a 6 a.m. joyride around the intersection.
Anderson said he was pleased with the opening.
“Someone asked me recently is Soldotna was changing it’s name to ‘detour’,” Anderson said.
The council also unanimously passed the 2015 fiscal year budget. A work session is scheduled right before the next council meeting on June 25.
