Due to high fire danger across the state, the Alaska Division of Fire and Life Safety is warning of residents to exercise extreme caution when using fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday. Those wanting to use fireworks as a part of holiday festivities should check with local authorities to make sure doing so is legal in the geographic region. Those using fireworks in areas where they are permitted should ensure fireworks are set off in a safe space and in a way that will not cause damage to persons or property. Those setting off fireworks should also have water or a fire extinguisher immediately available, and have a responsible, sober adult on site at all times. In addition, fireworks users should be respectful of their neighbors. — Staff
