DHSS: 210 new cases

Affected peninsula communities include Kenai with three cases and Soldotna with one case.

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services announced 210 new COVID-19 cases in Alaska on Wednesday, including four on the Kenai Peninsula. Affected peninsula communities include Kenai with three cases and Soldotna with one case. The new cases bring Alaska’s statewide case total to 61,913, including 59,383 reported among residents and 2,530 reported among nonresidents.

On Wednesday, the Kenai Peninsula Borough had an average daily 14-day case rate of 5.94 cases per 100,000 people. The borough is considered to be at intermediate risk level. Also on Wednesday, the state reported 100 new cases in Anchorage, 35 in Wasilla, 24 in Bethel Census Area, Palmer, six in Chugiak, six in Eagle River, four in North Pole, three in Delta Junction, three in Juneau, two in Fairbanks and one case each in Bethel, Big Lake, Healy, Houston, Mat-Su Borough, Unalaska, Valdez, Willow and Wrangell. Three new nonresident cases were also reported, including one in Anchorage, one in Fairbanks and one with a location still under investigation.

The state also reported seven new hospitalizations and no new deaths among residents among Alaska residents, bringing statewide totals to date to 1,336 and 308, respectively. As of Wednesday, there were 37 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Alaska, including one who was considered a person under investigation for the disease. Two of the patients were on ventilators.
