Those interested in casting a ballot in one of the Kenai Peninsula’s numerous races for local office have until Sunday, Sept. 3 to register to vote or update their voter registration information.
Up for grabs this year are seats on peninsula city councils, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education and numerous borough service area boards. Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Peter Micciche is also running unopposed for reelection.
Election day is Tuesday, Oct. 3 and absentee in-person voting begins on Sept. 18. Tuesday, Sept. 26 is the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail and Oct. 2 is the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by fax. Certification of the Oct. 3 election is scheduled for Oct. 10 and a mayoral runoff election, if needed, will be held Oct. 24.
Alaskans can register to vote online or download a paper registration form at voterregistration.alaska.gov. Voters can check their voter status information online at myvoterinformation.alaska.gov.
