Stace Escott has been promoted to chief of the Soldotna Police Department, according to a Wednesday press release from the City of Soldotna.
Escott has served with the department for 19 years, the release says. He’s served as acting chief since May, when previous chief Gene Meek resigned effective immediately without submitting a letter of resignation.
The release cites Escott’s leadership and communication skills as key to his selection as chief. The role, per the release, “is pivotal in Soldotna.”
“The City of Soldotna looks forward to seeing Chief Escott bring his experience and vision to this role and is confident that under his leadership, the Soldotna Police Department will continue to provide outstanding public safety services to our community,” the release reads.
Escott did not immediately respond Wednesday to a request for comment.
