A Sunday morning fire destroyed a Sport Lake Road home.
Central Emergency Services firefighters were called to a home on Rafie Street that had been engulfed in flames and — while they had the fire out in fewer than 40 minutes — the house was a total loss, said CES Capt. Terry Bookey.
“They were able to save some stuff from the bedrooms but there was heavy smoke and water damage,” he said.
Five people got out of the house and no one was injured as heavy fire from the living room and kitchen area moved throughout the home, Bookey said.
He estimated about $150,000 in damage to the home. CES contacted the Red Cross and Bookey said the group found family and friends to stay with.
The fire’s origins are still under investigation and Bookey said.
