Firefighters had a wildfire nearly 14 miles down Funny River Road controlled and contained as of late Sunday afternoon.
The one-half acre burn was near several structures, though none were threatened, according to Division of Forestry personnel.
Helitack crews, or teams of firefighters who are transported to the scene of a fire via helicopter, were working to contain it and had made several bucket drops of water in the area, said state Division of Forestry Public Information Officer Andy Alexandrou.
He said there were three engines and an air attack craft on scene near Robin Avenue where the fire began.
A retardent-carrying aircraft was initially requested but has since been turned back, he said.
The Robin Avenue fire was burning through spruce trees and black moss in the area.
