Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded last weekend to a capsized fishing vessel near Ninilchik, but the six occupants of the vessel were rescued by a nearby good Samaritan, they said Thursday.
According to a dispatch from the troopers, they were told around 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, that an 18-foot fishing vessel had capsized.
There were four adults and two juveniles on the boat when it capsized roughly 2 miles south of Ninilchik and 3 miles offshore in Cook Inlet.
The dispatch says a good Samaritan charter fishing vessel called “The Grinch” was nearby and rescued all six occupants, transporting them back to Ninilchik where they were evaluated by emergency medical services but declined further treatment.
