A flood watch is in effect for the Anchor River until Friday evening, according to Thursday alert from the National Weather service.
Potential flooding could take place on parts of the Anchor River due to a combination of warmer temperatures, snow melt and rain raising the river over the last two days downstream from the Sterling Highway.
There is potential for ice jam flooding. River gauge readings from Thursday afternoon indicate a possible ice jam along the lower reach of the river near the Old Sterling Highway bridge.
