Kenai’s former city manager was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Dalton Highway Sunday.
According to Alaska State Troopers, Rick Koch, 60, of Kenai, had been riding with several friends in the vicinity of Mile 39 of the Dalton Highway when his motorcycle went off the road. Koch’s group drove him to Livengood, a where a resident with a phone contacted emergency responders. CPR was attempted by people on the scene, and Guardian Flight responded from Fairbanks. Flight medics pronounced Koch deceased upon arrival.
Troopers say Koch was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Koch was Kenai’s city manager from February 2006 until Dec. 31, 2016. Last year, he ran for a seat in the Alaska House of Representatives, losing in the August Republican primary.
