Frozen RiverFest returns

Saturday night found groups of Alaskans huddled around bonfires and sipping beer in Soldotna Creek Park, where the annual Frozen RiverFest —a beer tasting event — was underway.

While lines of patrons bundled in parkas wound between food trucks and brewery tents, live music filled the air. The event was Soldotna’s first Frozen RiverFest since the COVID-19 pandemic began and Soldotna Chamber of Commerce Director Shanon Davis said it was nice to see so many people turn out.

The weather hovered amicably in the mid-30 degree range, but as the sky darkened bonfires cast warm glow on attendees.

Among the breweries represented at Saturday’s event were the Kenai River Brewing Company, the Cooper Landing Brewing Company, the Alaskan Brewing Company and the Midnight Sun Brewing Company.
