A 59-year-old Girdwood resident died in a motorcycle crash near Clam Gulch on Monday.
Alaska State Troopers were notified of the crash — near Sterling Highway Mile Post 115 between Clam Gulch and Johnson Lake — around 9 a.m., according to a Tuesday trooper dispatch.
Michael Elson, of Girdwood, had been traveling north toward Soldotna when he lost control of a motorcycle he was riding “while attempting to negotiate curves,” the dispatch said.
In addition to troopers, Central Emergency Services responded. Elson was declared dead on the scene. His remains are being transported to the State Medical Examiner.
