ANCHORAGE (AP) — An Anchorage grand jury has indicted three men suspected of a kidnapping and assault that left two brothers shot and abandoned at Hatcher Pass.
The grand jury Thursday indicted 34-year-old Matthew Scharber, 26-year-old Corey Sylva and 23-year-old Michael Elder.
Scharber also is charged with attempted murder, felony car theft and drug misconduct.
Elder is not in custody. A no-bail warrant has been issued for his arrest.
State prosecutors say the three suspects on Oct. 27 bound and beat 22-year-old Kevin Kirlin and 23-year-old Keeton Kirlin at Scharber’s apartment in a dispute over a missing wallet.
Investigators say Scharber drove the men to Hatcher Pass, shot them and left them to die.
A passer-by found the Kirlins and called Alaska State Troopers. The brothers are expected to survive.
