Ideal Option hosted an open house at their new location on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
The clinic, located at 416 Frontage Road in Kenai, is part of a national organization that provides medication-assisted treatment for patients who have addictions to alcohol, opioids and other substances.
“We help people with the medication portion and then connect them to other resources,” Melanie Luna, Alaska outreach coordinator, said.
At the open house there were multiple vendors and tours were given of the new facility.
The State of Alaska Department of Health works alongside Ideal Option to provide overdose prevention kits at their clinics. The goal is to help people in need of prescription medicine but to keep the people who use the medication stable as well.
“They are pieces of a puzzle,” Chris Kilby, an advanced practice registered nurse from the State of Alaska Department of Health, said. “And we can provide some pieces of that same puzzle, but you’ve got to have all the pieces together to make the big picture.”
