The Kenai Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating two men who they say impersonated police officers and conducted a traffic stop near Mile 13 of Kenai Spur Highway. The department received a report of the stop on Sunday, Oct. 25 at around 5 p.m., according to a Monday police dispatch.

According to the department, two men in their mid-30s made the stop using emergency lights “possibly in the dashboard area.”

Police said the two men stopped a driver, who asked them for identification. The two men then reportedly returned to the car and drove northbound on Kenai Spur Highway.

According to the department, the men were wearing collared shirts and patches on their sleeves. One was wearing a white ball cap. Both were reportedly armed with handguns. One of the men was described as having a beard, and the other as having long sandy brown hair.

The vehicle is described as a 2005-2010 Black Dodge Charger with tinted windows and Alaska Northern Lights license plates.

People with information about the vehicle, the two individuals or the traffic stop are encouraged to call the Kenai Police Department at 907-283-7879 or to submit an anonymous tip at www.peninsulacrimestoppers.com.
