A Nikiski man accused of brandishing a tire iron during an altercation with a family member is facing felony assault charges.
Arnold F. Sipes, 27, allegedly accosted a family member in a Nikiski home’s driveway on March 14 after being told to move out, according to an Alaska State Trooper affidavit filed with the court. The alleged victim reportedly told troopers that Sipes picked up the tire iron after was asked to leave the property. Sipes then allegedly grabbed the man’s shirt and motioned like he was going to hit him with the tire iron. The man told troopers that Sipes stopped when he told Sipes he would call his grandmother, according to the affidavit. Sipes allegedly threw the tire iron in the garage and left. Sipes is charged with one count of third-degree assault, a class C felony.
