A Kasilof man is dead after a conflict in a home that led to him barricading himself in a house and a trooper response.
Travis Stubblefield, 48, was pronounced dead Thursday night at a home in Kasilof, Alaska State Trooper dispatch. Troopers became involved after a 911 call around 9:52 p.m. Thursday reported a disturbance.
Stubblefield allegedly entered a home in Kasilof armed with a shotgun and a fight broke out between him and two other men. During the struggle, Stubblefield was allegedly “stabbed multiple times before the two males and one female who was also inside all ran out of the residence,” the dispatch states.
Troopers detained the three people and attempted to reach Stubblefield, but he stayed inside the home and refused to cooperate with troopers, according to the dispatch. A Special Emergency Response Team was initiated “as Stubblefield was believed to still be armed, and had barricaded inside the residence,” the dispatch states.
When the team arrived, they found Stubblefield dead inside the home from the stab wounds, according to the dispatch.
The investigation is ongoing. The three people who were detained were not arrested or charged, so their names were not released, said Alaska State Troopers spokesperson Megan Peters in an email. As of Friday, no charges had been filed.
