An Anchorage man has died after his snowmachine ran into a tree in Nikiski.
Alaska State Troopers received a report of a missing person last Friday. Bradford Cherrier, 54, was last seen Wednesday on his snowmachine. Cherrier owned a number of parcels of land at the end of Colosseum Court on the east side of Daniels Lake in Nikiski.
While the troopers were responding to the missings persons report, a friend of Cherrier’s called and said he had found the man dead near his crashed snowmachine, about 100 yards from his property, according to a trooper dispatch.
“AST arrived on scene and investigation revealed Cherrier crashed his snowmachine into a tree line off of a lake and subsequently died from injuries sustained,” the dispatch states.
No foul play was suspected, and the body was released to Peninsula Memorial Chapel to be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy, according to the dispatch.
