A three-year-old was safely returned to their parents after disappearing on Chas Ross Road, near Sterling, on Saturday.
According to the police report, the child and a dog went missing in the early morning on Saturday.
Alaska State Troopers received the report at 7:58 a.m. State troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, State Park Rangers and Central Emergency Services responded to the report.
Word of the child’s disappearance spread quickly, allowing a group of local citizens to also participate in the search.
The Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center utilized Rapid Notify, or reverse 911, to notify all residents in the area and an alert of the child’s disappearance was spread across local social media groups.
The search lasted for about an hour and a half before the child was found. The child was checked on the scene by Central Emergency personnel before being returned to the parents.
