Murkowski should oppose Kavanaugh

I am writing to ask Senator Murkowski to oppose Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for Supreme Court Justice.

I have several reasons.

Most importantly, this is a LIFETIME appointment. A president who is under criminal investigation should not be able to select a justice who will help decide questions concerning his involvement and whether he can be indicted.

This goes beyond the Special Counsel Mueller investigation into conspiracy with Russia which has already yielded 35 indictments, 5 guilty pleas and one conviction.

In addition, the president’s own charitable foundation and his business organization are under state and federal criminal investigation.

Most significantly to note, the president’s long-time accountant Allen Weisselberg has entered into an immunity deal related to alleged violations by the Trump Organization of the federal election laws.

We have ample evidence that Brett Kavanaugh may have committed perjury during his confirmation hearings.

In addition, a memo has surfaced that Kavanaugh does not believe Roe v. Wade is “settled law.” He is poised to create a majority that will take away a woman’s right to choose. And there are cases that will be brought immediately to give him this opportunity.

For these compelling reasons, and least not, to fairly serve the constituents of Alaska and the United States, I ask the senator to please oppose this nomination!
