Under clear skies and in hot weather, hundreds gathered Saturday to celebrate summertime during the annual Family Fun in the Midnight Sun.
Put on by the North Peninsula Recreation Service Area, the event filled the outdoor space behind the center with activities — with all pathways leading inward to a stage where at different times attendees might find live music or a martial arts demonstration.
Attractions at this year’s event included carnival games, food trucks, field games, face painting, Nikiski Fire Department displays and fun on the space’s playground.
Booths were run by North Peninsula Recreation staff, and by other groups and programs like the Nikiski Middle/High School soccer team, the Nikiski Senior Center, Peninsula Community Health Services and Marathon.
