Nearly 250 Old Timers turned out for the annual “Old Timers Dinner” August 21st at the Kenai Senior Center including the “kids” who helped serve, sell split the pot, take tickets at the door and assist with clean up.
Interesting to know that many of the “kids” qualify for our senior programs themselves. Jean Brockel sang “Auld Lang Syne” which has become a tradition at the event organized by homesteaders Peggy Arness and JoAnn Hollier. The menu included a traditional turkey dinner with homemade dressing which Super Missy the cook, is well known for topped off with fresh rhubarb crisp ala mode. Although the event is held at the Kenai Senior Center it is presented by The Homesteader’s Group.
This year’s mystery guest was Old Timer Melvin Tachick.
