Olsen resigns as director of Soldotna Chamber of Commerce

She has served at the helm of the chamber since February 2023

Maddy Olsen has resigned as executive director of the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, the chamber announced Monday.

Olsen has served at the helm of the chamber since February 2023, when she filled the role vacated by Shanon Davis. She worked with the chamber as a staff member since January 2022 and as a collaborator since November 2021, in addition to roughly 10 years working in the tourism industry prior, per previous Clarion reporting.

In this week’s chamber newsletter, her letter of resignation to the chamber’s board of directors is included. Citing the recent birth of her child, Olsen writes that she resigns as director effective immediately.

“Serving this organization and our community over the past two years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” she writes. “While I am stepping away from this position, I will remain a steadfast supporter of the Soldotna Chamber and the work it does to uplift our community.”

Olsen says she’ll remain available to the board and remaining staff “as they plan the chamber’s next chapter.”

The chamber recently hosted Christmas in the Park on Dec. 12. On Wednesday, the chamber will hold their annual awards celebration at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex at noon.
