A pedestrian was killed during a snowstorm Sunday evening after a pickup truck with an attached plow hit her, according to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers.
The troopers were notified of a collision between the vehicle and the pedestrian at around 8:30 p.m. The pickup was travelling down Kalifornsky Beach Road near Pirate Lane, when it hit 31-year-old Kenai resident Stephanie Anderson, according to troopers.
Anderson was reportedly walking in the roadway wearing dark clothing during white-out conditions as a result of the storm.
The truck driver, who was not identified in the dispatch, stopped and attempted to render aid, but Anderson was declared dead at the scene, the dispatch said.
Troopers, Kenai Police and Kenai Fire responded to the scene. According to the dispatch, 18 inches of snow were on the ground at that time, in addition to the low visibility.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
