AUGUSTA, Ga. — Vitto Kleinschmidt, publisher of the Peninsula Clarion in Kenai, has stepped down to pursue other opportunities. The announcement was made by Les Simpson, group publisher of Morris Publishing Group.
“We appreciate Vitto’s contribution to our Alaska markets and his leadership at the Clarion,” said Simpson. “We wish him well.”
Kleinschmidt moved from Juneau to Kenai in 2014 to take over the Clarion after longtime publisher Stan Pitlo announced his retirement. Prior to the move, Kleinschmidt was the circulation and operations director of the Juneau Empire.
“It has been a pleasure working with Morris Communications and as I begin this new chapter in my life I will always be grateful to those who believe in me,” Kleinschmidt said.
Deedie McKenzie, vice-president of operations for Morris Publishing Group, will serve as interim publisher.
