Devon Gonzalez, a Medicenter employee, works at the reception desk at the medical center’s new Integrative Medicine Clinic on Trading Bay Road on Saturday in Kenai. Integrative medicine is a holistic approach to wellness that includes both medical treatment and other natural therapies, in which a patient and the physician are partners in the healing process, according to Duke University’s integrative medicine center. Medicenter’s facility features amenities like a sauna and ionic foot baths. Patients can also get nutritional consuting via high-definition video conferencing from nutritionists Becca Richardson and Danielle Heard. Members of the public could get a first look at the new clinic during an open house Saturday, during which they could sample some healthy food, get a free ionic foot bath and buy nutritional supplements for 10 percent off.
