Working Class
By Bonnie Marie Playle, Soldotna
Up every morning at the crack of dawn,
darkness fades; the dew is gone.
Moving slowly to start the day,
wishing lives’ aches and pains would go away.
Go out the door, to the daily grind,
leaving the nice warm house behind.
Trudging thru traffic,
life’s full of heartaches and havoc.
Arrive at the workplace wherever it may be,
put on the smile for the world to see.
Teamwork is the tie that binds,
regardless of shift, or the nine to fives.
The working men or women make this nation great,
anything else would be its fate.
One day is not enough,
for all the people that keep going when it gets tough.
Labor Day, is the day to show and appreciate,
all the jobs well done, don’t discriminate.
Thank you workers for suiting up and showing up,
even though at times, life is rough.
