On Aug. 6 at 9:22 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of suspicious individuals on private property. After investigation, Tearany Ohern, 51, of Kasilof, was arrested for fifth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances. Russell Johnson, 40 of Kasilof, was arrested for driving while license revoked, failing to maintain insurance, and violating conditions of release. Both were taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

On Aug. 7 at 8:18 p.m., Alaska State Troopers performed a traffic stop in Ninilchik. After investigation, Kevin Bond, 50, of Anchorage, was arrested for driving under the influence and fourth-degree misconduct involving weapons and taken to the Homer Jail.

On Aug. 7 at 10:08 p.m., Alaska State Troopers performed a traffic stop in Ninilchik. After investigation, Thaddeous Plummer, 21, of Ninilchik, was arrested for driving under the influence and violating conditions of release and taken to the Homer Jail.

On Aug. 7 at 11:28 p.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Dominik Dalton, 33, of Kasilof, was impaired by alcoholic beverages. Further investigation revealed two underage minors in the vehicle. Dominik was arrested for driving under the influence and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

On Aug. 8 at 2:17 a.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation in Soldotna. After investigation, Joshua Carbuccia, 26, of Kasilof, was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

On Aug. 7 at 9:03 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision in Soldotna and contacted Chad Malburg, 37, of Soldotna. After investigation, Malburg was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Wildwood Pretrial.

On July 24 at about 10:30 a.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a sportfishing patrol on the Kenai River when they saw Stacey Hillbish, 57, of Soldotna, catch a sockeye salmon. Investigation revealed the fish was snagged and Hillbish failed to release a snagged fish. A $120 bailable citation was filed with the Kenai Court.

On Aug. 8 at 2:01 a.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop for moving violations in Kenai. After investigation, Raul Martinez, 40, of Kenai, was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Wildwood Pretrial.

On Aug. 8 at 3:15 a.m., Alaska State Troopers received a report of a single-vehicle collision in Cooper Landing. Investigation revealed that Edmee Andersen, 27, of Seward, was impaired by alcoholic beverages and had crashed her car into a guardrail. It was also discovered she had two children in the car with her when she crashed. No one was injured. Andersen was arrested and taken to the Seward Community Jail for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages and two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

On July 24 at about 12:00 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a sport fishing patrol on the Kenai River when they saw a person casting into Soldotna Creek. Investigation revealed that Cheyanne Pack, 28, of Utah, was casting into Soldotna Creek, trying to catch sockeye salmon. Soldotna Creek is closed to fishing. A $120 bailable citation was filed with the Kenai Court.

On Aug. 2 at 10:43 a.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers saw a drift gillnet fishing during a closed period. Investigation revealed that Charles Brady, 71, of Soldotna, was fishing during a closed period. A citation was filed with the Kenai Court for a mandatory court appearance.

On July 25 at 12:39 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Eric Bell, 35, of Anchorage, outside the Kenai personal use area. Bell left the Upper Cook Inlet personal use dipnetting site and failed to mark his salmon on his 2021 personal use permit. A $120 bailable citation was filed in the Kenai Court.

On July 25 at 2:57 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a patrol of the North Kasilof Beach personal use fishery. Anthoney Carey, 36, of Anchorage, was contacted as he was leaving the personal use fishery. Investigation revealed Carey had failed to mark his salmon on his 2021 personal use permit. A $120 bailable citation was filed with the Kenai Court.

On July 24 at about 3:00 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a sportfishing patrol on the Kenai River. Franklin Friddle, 65, of Sterling, was fishing on a gravel bar across from the Big Eddy Recreation site. Friddle was seen catching two fish, snagged, and failing to release the fish. A $140 bailable citation was filed in the Kenai Court.

On July 24 at about 3:00 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a sportfishing patrol on the Kenai River, when they saw Joni Piercy, 61, of Kenai, snag a sockeye salmon and fail to release the snagged fish. A $120 bailable citation was filed in the Kenai Court.

On Aug. 8 at 8:35 a.m., a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) was made on an orange Jeep Renegade, reporting that the driver was intoxicated. Alaska State Troopers contacted the vehicle in the parking lot of Three Bears in Ninilchik and identified the driver as Leo Metcalf, 44, of Anchorage. After investigation, revealed Metcalf was impaired by alcohol, he was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Wildwood Pretrial.

On Aug. 3 at 3:15 p.m., Alaska Wildlife Troopers were patrolling the Funny River Recreation site when they saw a sockeye salmon snagged and retained. Investigation revealed that Jeremiah Darger, 41, of Utah, failed to release a snagged salmon. A $120 bailable citation was filed with the Kenai Court.

On Aug. 8 at 12:24 p.m., Soldotna Alaska State Troopers received a report of a domestic violence protective order violation in the Kenai area. Investigation revealed that Holly M. Curren, 33, of Kenai, had violated a domestic violence protective order by going to the petitioner’s residence. Curren was arrested for violating the domestic violence protective order and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility, where she was held without bail.

On Aug. 8 at 8:22 p.m., Seward-based Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision with injuries near Mile 36 of the Seward Highway. Investigation revealed that the driver of one of the vehicles, Catherine Charlton, 51, of Anchorage, was impaired by alcohol. All three occupants of the other vehicle were transported by Emergency Medical Services to Seward Providence Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Charlton was taken to the Seward Jail on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and third-degree assault.

On Aug. 9 at 9:45 a.m., Randy Standifer, 44, of Tyonek, called Soldotna Dispatch, reporting that he had punched out the window of a family member’s vehicle in Tyonek. The family member also called Soldotna Dispatch, reporting the same thing. Alaska State Troopers responded to Tyonek via Helo 3 and contacted Randy Standifer, who was arrested on charges of fifth-degree criminal mischief (domestic violence) and violating conditions of release (for first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault). Standifer was taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility without bail.

On Saturday, Aug. 7, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a series of vandalizations at three commercial setnet sites near Mile 126 of the Sterling Highway. Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Anchor Point responded to the area. Based on a preliminary investigation, three structures and two vehicles received thousands of dollars of damage due to vandalism that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 5. Troopers were able to identify two juvenile persons of interest after social media posts were posted from the site of the vandalism and passed on to troopers. The troopers contacted two juveniles, and charges related to their actions were forwarded to the Division of Juvenile Justice.

On Aug. 10 at 8:56 a.m., Alaska State Troopers received a report from an employee at the Duck Inn that there was a female on the property refusing to leave. The employee reported the female was yelling and had a metal pipe in her hand that she was hitting on the curb in the parking lot. Troopers arrived and contacted the female, identified as Gabrielle Browning, 29, of Kasilof, who was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass for refusing to leave the property. She was also found to be on conditions of release for three other cases and in violation of those conditions. She was taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility on charges of second-degree criminal trespass and violating conditions of release.

On Aug. 10 at 7:32 p.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Dakota and contacted the driver, James Michael Cook, 50, of Kenai, who was found to have three active felony warrants. Further investigation found misuse of registration on his Dodge Dakota. Cook was arrested and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

In cooperation with the State of Alaska Medical Examiner’s Office, the Kenai Police Department has identified the following individuals who perished in the fatal accident on July 17, 2021. The driver was identified as Antonio De La Cruz, 24, of Kenai. The front seat passenger was identified as Anthony Martin, 32, of West Palm Beach, Florida. The rear seat passenger was identified as Terry Reed, 24, of Kenai.

On Aug. 9 at 11:22 a.m., Alaska State Troopers received a report of a fight occurring at the Salmon Festival grounds in Ninilchik. Troopers responded, and an investigation showed that Roger Edwards, 33 of Pennsylvania, had been found on the property after the festival closed and had refused to leave when requested to do so by security staff. Edwards stole alcohol from the beer garden and then assaulted a security staff member as he was escorted from the property. Edwards was arrested and taken to the Homer Jail on $1,500 bail.

On Aug. 8 at 6:07 p.m., Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report on a vehicle traveling toward Anchor Point on the Sterling Highway. After troopers stopped the vehicle on North Fork Road and contacted the driver, Cimmaron Tangman, 46, of Anchor Point, investigation showed Tangman was driving the vehicle while under the influence of controlled substances. He was arrested, then given a summons to appear and released to a sober adult.

On Aug. 11 at about 7:30 p.m., Alaska State Troopers Dispatch received a report of a stolen U-Haul trailer. Troopers responded to Kasilof Beach and contacted Cory White, 31, of Kenai, who was driving a green Chevrolet pickup, pulling the stolen trailer. He was also found to be driving while license revoked and was arrested for second-degree theft and driving while license revoked and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
