A preliminary magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the western side of Cook Inlet at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Alaska Earthquake Center. The quake, which took place at a depth of 54.9 miles, was centered 31 miles northwest of Kenai and 31 miles northeast of the Mount Redoubt volcano. The earthquake center reported the quake was felt throughout Southcentral Alaska.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Tsunami Warning System reported no warning, advisories, watches or threats from the earthquake as of 1:30 p.m.
