The School Board unanimously approved postponing a vote on the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District’s Six-Year Plan at Monday’s meeting.
The plan was one of ten action items scheduled for the school board to vote on, and the only one that was removed from the list.
The school board was not given enough time to properly review the document, having received copies the day they were asked to approve it, said board member Dan Castimore. He said his biggest concern with moving the plan forward was that it lacked any plans for addressing the poor structural conditions and transportation at the Razdolna, Kachemak Selo and Voznesenka schools in Homer.
Board member Tim Navarre said he felt less concern about approving the plan because the school board reviews it annually. However, he supported Castimore’s action to postpone addressing the document, which will be discussed during a work session or next month’s meeting on March 2.
