Because of a continuing winter storm that started Sunday night, Kenai Peninsula School District schools in the Homer and Anchor Point area will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 7, according to a notice from the school district on Monday evening.

Homer and Anchor Point area schools closed early on Monday because of the storm.
Moose Pass School, Seward Elementary School, Seward High School and Seward Middle School will open with a two-hour delay on Tuesday. Announcements about any full closure warranted by weather or road conditions will be made by 7 a.m.

Cooper Landing and Hope schools will operate on a normal schedule.
Central peninsula schools in the Kasilof, Kenai, Nikiski, Ninilchik, Soldotna, and Sterling areas are slated to open on a normal schedule. If road conditions deteriorate overnight, a delay start or closure will be announced by about 5:30 a.m. If there is not an announcement, school is open on a normal schedule.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday south of Clam Gulch. Heavy snow and blowing snow are expected, with additional accumulations of 6 to 10 inches along with southeast winds gusting to 35 mph on Monday evening.
Worst conditions are expected along the Homer Bluff, Diamond Ridge and the hills north of Homer. Heavy snow will resume overnight. Expect more blowing snow as winds shift to westerly and temperatures cool Tuesday morning.
