A special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service on Friday warns of accumulating snow Saturday evening through Sunday.
The statement says that a “complex area of low pressure” will move into Southcentral Alaska this weekend. Lighter snow should be seen in Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Cooper Landing, and north into Anchorage and beyond starting Saturday night.
That snow should taper off briefly, the statement says, but will be followed by a second round of heavier snow developing through the morning that is expected to let off by that night.
The statement says that 2 to 4 inches of snow is likely for all areas affected, with more snow along the Sterling Highway east of Soldotna.
