A Seward man arrested on Saturday gave his brother’s name and was arrested under the false identity for driving under the influence and four counts of misconduct involving controlled substances, according to a dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers.
Kevin Hakala, 42, was pulled over by Seward-based troopers on Saturday around 1 a.m. Troopers reported that he was driving under the influence and was in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, buprenorphine hydrochloride, clonazepam, two cellphones, packaging materials, a digital scale and $91.
Hakala gave his name as his brother and was arrested on the charges of one count of third-degree misconduct involving controlled substances for intent to deliver methamphetamine, three counts of fifth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances for possession of the other three drugs, driving under the influence and operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance. He was taken to Seward City Jail without bail.
When Hakala was arrested, he was fingerprinted. On Monday, the dispatch says that troopers received notice that the fingerprints belonged to his brother and not Hakala.
The dispatch says that charging documents have been amended with the correct identification, and that the Seward Police Department has requested a summons for one count of false information.
