Seward Elementary shifts to remote learning after possible transmission of COVID-19 case

All Seward sports are canceled for Saturday and Seward Elementary School will go to remote learning Monday and Tuesday due to possible transmission of a COVID-19 case in that school, according to Seward High School’s athletic director and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.

Al Plan, Seward High School athletic director, said in a Saturday text message that all Seward sports are canceled for Saturday due to what the district is calling an “abundance of caution” due to possible transmission in the elementary school.

Seward’s football team will not host Nikiski at noon. Seward’s cross-country team also won’t travel to Tsalteshi Trails for Saturday’s borough meet.

According to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard, Seward Elementary will shift to 100% remote learning Monday and Tuesday. The shift to 100% remote learning is only for Seward Elementary at this time.
