A winter weather advisory was issued Wednesday by the National Weather Service for Kenai, Soldotna, Homer and Cooper Landing, in effect from 12:01 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday.
The advisory warns of mixed precipitation, including up to 3 inches of snow and an accumulation of a light glaze of ice.
The advisory says that the most likely area for freezing rain will be the Sterling Highway corridor, and that precipitation will likely be entirely rain toward Kachemak Bay.
Hazardous conditions resulting from this weather event will likely impact morning commutes, the advisory says.
Soldotna and Kenai forecast information from the National Weather Service says that snow is likely until 9 a.m., followed by rain and snow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by rain.
