The Soldotna City Council will consider the purchase of two vehicles to add to the City of Soldotna’s fleet when they convene for their Wednesday night meeting.
The first vehicle, a 2022 Chevrolet 1500 LTD, would go to the Soldotna Police Department and is estimated to cost about $30,500. The second vehicle, a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, would be used as an animal control vehicle and is estimated to cost about $27,500. Both would be purchased from Alaska Sales and Service.
According to legislation up for consideration by the city council on Wednesday, the City of Soldotna used a website operated by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to get quotes on the vehicles.
“As a local Government entity we have the ability to piggy back with the State on procurement contracts,” wrote Soldotna Maintenance Department Manager Scott Sundberg in a memo to Soldotna City Manager Stephanie Queen. “Using the state procurement process ensures that all vendors in Alaska have a chance to submit a bid to supply fleet vehicles to the State and local Government through this bidding process.”
The legislation also said that funds for both purchases were appropriated in the city’s fiscal year 2022 budget.
