An inmate at Spring Creek Correctional Center was found dead in his cell early Friday morning, according to a dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers. Leefisher Tukrook was found at around 12:10 a.m. on June 17 in his cell and taken to a hospital in Seward where he was pronounced deceased, the dispatch says.
According to the dispatch, Tukrook was found alone in his cell and there is no indication of foul play. Tukrook’s remains were sent to the Alaska State Medical Examiner for autopsy and next-of-kin was notified by North Slope Borough Police, the dispatch said.
Spring Creek Correctional Center is located in Seward and employs more than 200 staff, according to the Alaska Department of Corrections. It has a capacity of 535 male inmates.
