Drivers are encouraged to be cautious when recreating near Bing’s Landing Boat Launch in Sterling this week. Alaska State Parks crews are removing hazardous trees and clearing roads in the area. Work will be ongoing through Thursday, according to an alert from Alaska State Parks. The boat launch will remain open, but drivers should be aware of traffic changes when accessing the launch.
The work is part of the State of Alaska’s efforts to mitigate the spruce beetle outbreak on the Kenai Peninsula, according to the alert. The work is expected to make access and egress to state facilities in the area easier.
Bing’s Landing Campground and Day Use Area covers about 126 acres and has 36 campsites, according to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. The area is accessed by turning from the Sterling Highway to Bings Landing Road.
