No people were hurt when a cabin was burned to the ground by a fire Wednesday afternoon in Sterling.
Central Emergency Services firefighters responded to the home at the intersection of Robinson Loop Road and Higher Ground Street just before noon on Wednesday, said CES Captain Terry Bookey. No one was inside the cabin at the time and the fire was called in by a passerby, he said.
The house was a total loss, Bookey said, and was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The cabin’s owner was not home at the time.
“Unfortunately a pet dog died in the fire,” Bookey said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
