A “slow moving storm system” will bring around 2 to 6 inches of snow to the western Kenai Peninsula this weekend, the National Weather Service said Friday afternoon.
A special weather statement published at 3:30 p.m. on Friday says that “long duration” periods of light to moderate snow will arrive across most of the Kenai Peninsula from Friday morning through Sunday morning, with snowfall steadiest on Saturday morning. Highest snow totals are forecast for Kenai and Soldotna, while snow will “taper off” from west to east.
The notice is issued for the cities of Kenai, Soldotna, Homer and Cooper Landing.
Though the service forecasts a snowy weekend, there are sunny skies are predicted for Monday and Tuesday.
