Dan Strigle was named the new district attorney in Kenai earlier this month, as former District Attorney Scot Leaders is leaving for a new position in Kotzebue.
That’s according to a March 11 press release from the State Department of Law, which says that Strigle has served as deputy district attorney since August — working directly under Leaders — and accepted the promotion in January.
“Scot did a wonderful job as the Kenai DA and will be missed in that position, but Kenai’s loss is Kotzebue’s gain,” Deputy Attorney General John Skidmore says in the release. “And, of course, Kenai is in good hands with Dan as DA there.”
Strigle received an undergraduate degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks before obtaining a law degree from Boston College Law School in 2017, the release says. He’s worked in the criminal division of the department as an assistant district attorney since graduating, in Fairbanks before coming to Kenai.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve the people of the Kenai Peninsula as District Attorney,” Strigle says in the release. “I look forward to working with local stakeholders in the justice system to ensure that our community is safe and thriving.”
