Soldotna resident Elaina Spraker has been hired as the Regional Director Sen. Dan Sullivan’s new Kenai office.
The office, located at 805 Frontage Road, Suite 101 in Kenai, sits down the hall from Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s, R-Alaska, office which makes it a “one stop shop,” for residents who would like to be heard on federal issues, Spraker said.
Sullivan, R-Alaska, on Tuesday announced Spraker’s appointment. The office will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at 907-283-4000.
“I am so excited,” Spraker said of her new position.
“It took a pretty dynamic person to bring me out of retirement … I love this job.”
The longtime Kenai Peninsula resident and firearms instructor will continue to run her Women on Target and Teens on Target programs while working for Sullivan’s office.
“That was part of negotiating the job and here’s what I told the Senator ‘If he gives up his boys and guns and his marine battalion, I’ll give up my girls and guns. So guess what? I got to keep them,” she said. “It works out beautifully … the Senator is an ardent second amendment supporter so that was kind of an easy negotiating point.”
Spraker said she will serve as a liaison between Kenai Peninsula residents and Sullivan’s office.
“Anything with federal issues, whether it’s federal overreach, veteran’s affairs issues, social security issues, anything that’s federal I will try my very best to help the constituents on the Kenai reach out to (Sullivan),” she said.
